Update:

Wohlmöglich habe ich mich vertan, was das Tragen von einem Ei angeht.
Da Lasius niger nur die Larven überwintern lässt, wird es sich wahrscheinlich um eine Larven handeln.
Also ist die Volkszählung auch eine andere:

Gyne/Königin: 1
Ei: 0
Larve: ca. 11
Puppe: 0
Arbeiterinnen/Pygmäen: ca. 11

Maybe I had make a mistake with the egg.
Lasius niger only let the grubs alive while they are in dormancy. That is the reason why the queen didn't take an egg with her mandibles, but she take a grub.

The census of the population is now:
Gyne/Queen: 1
Eggs: 0
Grubs: round about 11
Cocoons: 0
Workers/Pygmies: round about 11

Guten Morgen,

da eine Vielzahl gerne auch Urlaubsbilder von Ameisenhaufen sehen wollte, poste ich ein, bzw. zwei Bilder von Gebirgswaldameisen, bzw. deren Bauten, die ich beim Wandern entdeckt habe.

Fundort ist der an der österreichischen Grenze gelegene Spitzstein (1596m) in den Chiemgauer Alpen.

Tag 13 (18.11.2013)

Viel gibt es in der Winterruhe ja leider nicht zu berichten. Bei einer routinemäßigen Kontrolle (die ich alle 3 Tage mache, war ich so frei und habe ein Bild gemacht, soweit es ging.

Man erkennt schön das Völkchen, wie es quasi nichts macht.
Komischerweise hatte die Königin beim Zurückpacken ein Ei zwischen den Mandibeln. Hatte sie Hunger? Oder wollte sie es nur wieder zurückpacken? Eier legen bei 7°C ist wohl etwas übertrieben, oder?

Darüber hinaus habe ich die Arena ja wie bereits erwähnt umdekoriert. Hier nun mein fertiger Entwurf:

Freue mich schon, wenn die Ameisen einziehen und auf Entdeckungstour gehen.

Good morning,

some of you guys wanted pics from my summer holiday and my discoveries of ants.

I found some anthills of the mountain wood ants at the Spitzstein (1596m) in the Chiemgauer Alps.

More over there is an update of yesterday:

Day 13 (Nov. 18th 2013)

It is only a little update, because there isn't many interesting things to tell you, while the ants are in dormancy.

While I checked the ants (I checked them almost every three days), I took a picture of them (above).

You can see the colony while they are doing nothing. :P

The queen has strangely enough an egg between her mandibles. Was she hungry? Or wanted she only put it back to the others? With 7°C it is a bit too cold to lay eggs, isn't it?

Please do not hesitate to tell me, what I can do better. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the ants how they discover the arena and their moving in the farm.
